Art Classes For Adults & Children

Adult Classes

About the classes

  • Art classes take place in my large, modern, purpose-built studio, located at the back of my house in Chessington, South West London.
  • I teach how to handle different with structured approaches that explore the technical aspects of drawing skills first, followed by painting media such as acrylic, watercolours and oil paintings.
  • I encourage art students to adopt new perspectives and see the world with a critical eye.
  • Art students will explore the technical and theoretical aspects of different subject matter such as still life, landscape and portraiture. This allows students to refine their observational skills.
  • I provide art students with sustained, structured art tuition which I tailor to the needs of each student.
  • I provide engaging art lessons that can boost the art student’s confidence and self-esteem.
  • My classes encourage art students to bond and cooperate with other students attending our art classes.
  • Classes stimulate art students with new subjects and contemporary approaches to get them to strive to think creatively, be original, discover, and innovate.
  • I have many years of experience of teaching adults with learning difficulties and they are welcome in my class.

Testimonials

My son had fallen out of love with art after a difficult time at school when art pressurized and associated with exams. Lucy was recommended by a friend and as we drove along to her studio for the first time. He protested mightily but after his lesson, he said ‘Thank you for pushing me to do that, I really enjoyed it’ so Lucy helped him find art again. He’s been to see her almost every week since then and always comes out in a better place.

He has always produced some wonderful drawings and paintings and has learnt so much. Lucy is helping him with his art GCSE but most importantly she is helping him progress as an artist and a young man. I can’t recommend her enough.

Testimonials

I really enjoy Lucys art classes – she explains in detail but in an easy to understand way. I have learnt so much from her – she is a fabulous artist but takes time to explain & help those of us who are not so talented. She pushes me into areas which challenge me. I have done drawing, acrylic, painting and watercolours with Lucy, I love her style of teaching, she’s extremely patient, explains very simply when things need to change and has masses of enthusiasm for other peoples paintings.
